Letter to USWNT from Carol Heiss Jenkins

To the members of the U.S. Women’s National Team,

It’s hard to believe it’s been 55 years since I was riding in a convertible down the Canyon of Heroes, the same parade route all of you will be riding along on Friday. I was 20 years old, having just won an Olympic gold medal in figure skating, and like yours, my life was a whirlwind, flying by like the ticker tape in the sky.  It was a magical day, and I remember looking up at all of these people and all of these tall buildings. It was a marvelous scene that I have never forgotten. 

I am so proud that my hometown of New York will be honoring you women the same way. Your victory in the World Cup captivated all of us Americans. I made sure I tuned in right from the start, and I am so glad I didn’t miss any of the goals, including all three of the ones scored by Carli Lloyd. All of you put on a wonderful display of athleticism, sportsmanship and spirit, and you all made us so proud. 

I had no idea that I was the last woman athlete to be honored with a ticker-tape parade until reporters started contacting me about it this week. It took a long time to honor other women athletes but I am glad you are the women who will have that honor. To win a third World Cup for the United States was no easy task. Having competed at the Olympic and World level, I understand the enormous pressures you faced and know what an incredible feeling it is to perform well under those circumstances and with so many people watching.

It is wonderful to see so many young women involved in sports today, and I think your “SheBelieves” campaign has helped ignite this passion and has instigated this sentiment that anything is possible in a whole new generation of young girls.

If you believe in something, write it down, because if you believe it, then it becomes a goal. Young girls have to have dreams and believe in those dreams in order to make them happen. I have two granddaughters who play soccer, one of whom earned a four-year soccer scholarship at Brevard College in North Carolina. Your efforts in the World Cup will inspire young women to keep their athletic dreams alive.

I wish I could be in New York to celebrate with all of you. Not a lot keeps me down but I just underwent hip surgery last month, and this is one time I have to listen to my doctors and stay put. But I will be watching the parade on TV from my home in Cleveland, and I will be cheering for all of you. This team will be remembered for many years to come.

Enjoy the moment. Look up at the buildings and the people above. The cheering fans should make you realize your accomplishment transcends just a score in a soccer game. Take it all in, as it goes by fast. This moment in time is very well-deserved, and I hope your day is as magical as the one I enjoyed back in 1960.

ARGENTINA UNVEILS COPA AMÉRICA 2015 HOME KIT

Argentina, runners-up in last year’s World Cup, are the latest club to receive new kits from adidas. A more classical home jersey look is in store for the star-studded Albiceleste, as they prepare for this year’s Copa América at neighboring Chile this June. The fourteen-time Copa América champion hasn’t won since 1993, and they’ll look to snap the schneid this time.

The jersey retains the traditional sky blue and white stripes. Black and gold details from the much-loved World Cup look last year have been dropped for this new conservative and solid shirt. It has a white v-neck collar, with the trademark adidas three-stripes in the same color on both sleeves reaching out to the shoulders. The sleeves themselves are in sky blue. Three thick sky blue stripes take up the front and back of the shirt, with the badge at the heart of the jersey has an embroidered shield effect on the badge. White shorts and socks with sky blue three-stripe trim for both fills out the rest of this year’s Albiceleste home kit.

Fútbol - El Atlético presenta su nueva camiseta con un guiño al Doblete

El Atlético de Madrid ha desvelado su equipación para la temporada 2015/16 con un nuevo diseño que la entidad describe como un "guiño al Doblete" de la 95/96 por las líneas que acompañan a las bandas. Además de esa modificación, resalta el cambio en el patrocinador principal, además de la ausencia de cuello y una fina línea azul. El pantalón es azul y las medias rojas.

Nueva camiseta del Atlético de Madrid (web oficial)

El Atlético de Madrid ha desvelado este miércoles a través de las redes sociales su nueva camiseta para la próxima temporada, un diseño rojiblanco que califica como "un guiño al Doblete" de Liga y Copa del Rey del curso 1995-96 y en el que cambia su patrocinador principal.

Con una imagen en la que aparece el entrenador argentino Diego Pablo Simeone detrás de una cámara y los jugadores 'Koke' Resurrección, José María Giménez, Saúl Ñíguez, Arda Turan yAntoine Griezmann posando, el Atlético desveló la que será su nueva camiseta para el próximo ejercicio. La nueva vestimenta rojiblanca recuerda el 'Doblete' de Liga y Copa obtenido por el Atlético hace veinte años incluyendo junto a las bandas anchas rojas dos líneas finas de color rojo, como tuvo la camiseta de aquella temporada.

La camiseta no tiene cuello, más que una fina línea azul en la parte posterior y bajo los brazos; las mangas son completamente rojas y el pantalón es del color azul habitualmente utilizado por el conjunto madrileño.

O Benfica assinou hoje um acordo de patrocínio de três anos com a Emirates, uma das maiores companhias aéreas do mundo, cujo nome passará a figurar nas camisolas da equipa de futebol, sem divulgar o valor envolvido.

"É um bom acordo tanto para o Benfica como para a Emirates", afirmou o presidente do clube, Luís Filipe Vieira, quando questionado sobre o valor do patrocínio, que durará até final da época 2017/2018.

Luís Filipe Vieira lembrou que a assinatura surge "num momento particularmente feliz para o clube", que há dois dias se sagrou bicampeão português de futebol.

"Este é um acordo que nos projeta a nível global", disse, acrescentando: "O Benfica passa a fazer parte de uma restrita elite mundial".

O presidente do Benfica deixou um agradecimento público à PT, patrocinadora do clube há mais de 10 anos.

Tim Clark, presidente da companhia aérea sedeada nos Emirados Árabes Unidos, afirmou que a "força da equipa do Benfica é uma das razões da parceria".

No final da cerimónia, que decorreu numa das bancadas do estádio da Luz e contou com a presença de quase todo o plantel da formação 'encarnada', foi exibida uma camisola gigante, já com o nome do novo patrocinador.

Em julho do ano passado, a Emirates tornou-se na companhia aérea oficial do Benfica e passou a patrocinar o futebol de formação da equipa lisboeta, por um valor que também não foi revelado.

A Emirates é patrocinadora de vários clubes europeus, entre os quais o Real Madrid, o AC Milan e o Paris Saint-Germain.

This is the new NYRB home jersey 2015, New York Red Bulls’ new home jersey for the 2015 MLS season. Made by Adidas, it was officially unveiled at Webster Hall in New York on March 3, 2015.

With the introduction of another club in the same city- New York City FC, the Red Bulls have attempted to highlight the New York connection more in their new jersey, perhaps to remind fans that they ARE the original club of the city. New York is seen in a tag on the bottom left of the jersey and it also finds a mention on the back.

Special Macron Lazio 2015 'Eagle Kit' Released

Based on the famous Lazio 1880s Jersey, the new Lazio 2015 Jersey features a bold eagle graphic on the front of the kit, which was also part of the Lazio 1980s club crest. The stylized eagle graphic is continued on the sleeves and the back of the special Lazio 2015 Kit.

The new Lazio 2015 Eagle Shirt is divided in a white upper half and a sky blue half to recreate the famous half-and-half kit design. The shorts of the new special Lazio 2015 Kit are sky blue, while the socks are white.

The original Lazio Stylized eagle Shirt was designed in the early 1980s by former Lazio SS president Gian Chiaron Casoni, whose family also the owns the trademark rights of the stylized eagle design. In September 2014, Lazio announced that they reached an agreement to use the famous stylized eagle for their shirts.

First real picture leaked. The new Chelsea 2015-2016 Home, Away and Third Kits feature a unique design for the English Premier league club, sponsored for the first time by Yokohama Tire. The new Chelsea 15-16 Kits will be presented in Summer 2015 and are again made by German brand Adidas.

The Japanese tire company Yokohama will sponsor the new Adidas Chelsea 15-16 Kits for the first time in the club history, after the sponsorship deal with Samsung will end in June 2015. Yokohama and Chelsea announced a record-breaking sponsorship deal on February 26.

For the 2015-16 season, Chelsea FC will return to red details for the new home shirt. Chelsea used red details for the last time in the 2010-11 season.

The new Chelsea 15-16 Home Kit features a classical kit design with slightly darker blue pinstripes on the front. The mainly blue Polo collar has a white / red line, which can be also seen on the sleeve cuffs of the classical new Adidas Chelsea 2015-2016 Kit.

Blue shorts and socks will complete the new Adidas Chelsea 2015-16 Home Kit.

Barcelona center back Gerard Pique may have the small matter of a Champions League semifinal second leg at Bayern Munich to deal with on Tuesday, but that didn’t stop the longtime Spain defender from turning a bit nostalgic. He tweeted out a photo Sunday of some of the most treasured jerseys he’s traded for over the years.

Some of the biggest names in world soccer made the cut, with a Leo Messi Argentina shirt, a Neymar Brazil jersey, an Andrea Pirlo Italy top and a Luis Suarez Uruguay shirt all featured in Pique’s collection.

A few players with Major League Soccer connections have also swapped shirts with Pique, with Thierry Henry’s France jersey, Frank Lampard’s England shirt and David Beckham’s Paris Saint-Germain jersey (how’s that for a collector’s item?) on display in the photo.

The shirt that sticks out the most though, didn’t come from a player in a top European league or a World Cup-winning national team. No, the most memorable jersey – for our purposes, anyway – is from MLS, with Landon Donovan’s LA Galaxy No. 10 shirt catching our eye in the bottom row of Pique’s photo.

ADIDAS OUSTS NIKE FROM JUVENTUS ADIDAS ESTROMETTE NIKE DALLA JUVENTUS
